VW Action - Another cracking weekend!

First off we'd like to congratulate VW Pro champion James Hodson on his second place in the VW Action 'Quick 8' on Saturday night.
Secondly, congratulations to Sam and Olly Young for their trophy for Black Current III in the Concourse Show 'n' Shine, show as well as go guys, well done!
Finally, it's not often we're lost for words here at the VWDRC but this one is something really special.
At the prize giving on Sunday the VWDRC was enacted into the VW Action 'Hall of Fame' for services to the VW Scene!
It's a great honor to receive this award and there's far too many of you to thank individually but we'd like to extend our thanks to everyone who's been part of the VWDRC over the years for making it what it is.

Open Sports Nationals 2010
Submitted by VWDRC on Tue, 31/08/2010 - 19:00.Well done to everyone who headed over to Shakespeare County Raceway for the Open Sports Nationals this weekend, it was a great weekend with only one small big rainstorm to dampen enthusiasm, we managed a full round of racing finishing by 4pm on Monday afternoon!
Special congratulations to Russ Weir for his Sportsman victory, he's unstoppable! Rookie Matt Bennet-Sime did a good job of trying in his Derby but it wasn't to be as he ended up runner-up.
It's so tight at the top of Pro now, with championship leader James Hodson going out early on the fight was on between Dave Bridge and Matt Attwood to take the provisional top spot, as it panned out a breakout (and PB) for Dave handed the event victory to Matt's V8 powered Fastback. There's now only a handful of points in it going into the National Finals, we hope to see you there!

VWDRC Take another record at Easter Thunderball!
Submitted by VWDRC on Sat, 03/04/2010 - 18:59.We've just heard news from Easter Thunderball at Santa Pod where VWDRC Rookie Sam Young has run 12.3737 @ 108mph in his Electric Beetle.
This makes Sam not only the first electric car to race on an equal footing against petrol cars in competition but the quickest electric car in Europe!!
Well done to Sam and his team from all of us in the VWDRC that can't be there to congratulate you in person!
EDIT: Sam actually went on to run 11.95 and 11.98's later on in the weekend, backing up a 11.95 European record! First 'Electric 11' in Europe! Well done Sam!

Easter Thunderball Reminder!

Best get yourselves out to the garage, lockup, barn, or driveway and put the finishing touches to your racecars! But before you do that don't forget to send off your entry forms.
Easter Thunderball and Big Bang Entry forms are now available online.
Closing date for normal priced entries are Friday 12th March for Easter and Friday 2nd April for Big Bang.

2010 is set to be a great year for the VWDRC, we had a great AGM and the atmosphere in the club is excellent, we're sure this will follow on to the pits for 2010 and it's already shaping up to be a great year.
