We've just heard news from Easter Thunderball at Santa Pod where VWDRC Rookie Sam Young has run 12.3737 @ 108mph in his Electric Beetle.

This makes Sam not only the first electric car to race on an equal footing against petrol cars in competition but the quickest electric car in Europe!!

Well done to Sam and his team from all of us in the VWDRC that can't be there to congratulate you in person!

EDIT: Sam actually went on to run 11.95 and 11.98's later on in the weekend, backing up a 11.95 European record! First 'Electric 11' in Europe! Well done Sam!

Great news this week as the class sponsors for this year’s championships were finalised. TSR Engine Conversions and Bears Motorsport continue as Pro Class sponsors,

The club are still accepting offers for sponsorship – if you are interested, or if you know of anyone who may be interested, please get in touch with a committee member!

Wow... we’re into March already, not long till the opening round of the season. Best get yourselves out to the garage, lockup, barn, or driveway and put the finishing touches to your racecars! But before you do that don't forget to send off your entry forms.

Easter Thunderball and Big Bang Entry forms are now available online.
Closing date for normal priced entries are Friday 12th March for Easter and Friday 2nd April for Big Bang.

2010 is set to be a great year for the VWDRC, we had a great AGM and the atmosphere in the club is excellent, we're sure this will follow on to the pits for 2010 and it's already shaping up to be a great year.

The VWDRC would like to offer its biggest congratulations to every single person who has been a part of the 2009 Championship.

2009 AGM,Which took place on Sunday 6th December in Northampton, is where we officially crowned our champions and commended our runners-up. Our Thanks go to Brett Hawksbee for presenting this years awards

Well done to James Hodson (VW PRO) and Lucy Matthews (VW SPORTSMAN)for their victories

and Rich Merriman (VW PRO) and Russ Weir (VW SPORTSMAN) for their excellent runner-up performances.

It was a winning weekend for Lucy Matthews who also netted Rookie Of
The Year, and Wagenmeister Driver Of The Year.

The RNJ Motorsport Car Of The Year! went to Rich Merriman.

The Becky Sutton memorial award for services to the club, a huge well done and thank you to Abi, Second year in a row!

We also elected our 2010 committee, which will consist of Danny Allen, Chris Bray, Tom Herbert, Ian Huggan, Polly Naylor, Luke Stevenson, Abi Tether, and Russ Weir.

Full details on the 2009 AGM will follow to members shortly.

Wow - it's hard to believe it's October already!
The season's over, the Championships are decided and now the planning for 2010 starts in earnest!

Congratulations to everyone who took part in the championship this year, it's been a fantastic year and we're looking forward to going bigger, better, harder and faster in 2010!

Wow that was close at the top of VW Sportsman!
It wasn't decided until the final run of the final event but Lucy managed to take not only Rookie of the Year, but the VW Sportsman title and 'first female VW Sportsman winner' by just 10 points! Bad luck Russ and well done to everyone who's raced in VW Sportsman this year!

It wasn't quite so close in VW Pro, but the championship did come down to the final round with James Hodson successfully defending his title. Well done James! Special mention to Rich Merriman who has spent the whole season continually improving in his car into a mean bracket racer, he's made giant steps so far, lets hope the progress continues in 2010!
